IAC 15 will have the box over KIXD open on Saturday, July 22nd starting at 8am.
Those interested should meet at New Century Air Services on the east side of the airport.
The club held a general meeting on March 27, 2017 at Signature Flight Support at KIXD.
Those in attendance were: Grant Wittenborn, Dave Maine, Nan Funkhouser, Bev Wittenborn, Jon Daughty, Paul Holland, and Paul Thomson.
Dave reported that the club has $10,228.85 in the club account. The 2016 IRS filing is complete, and the Kansas state filings are not due again until 2018.
Dave reported on the hangar and airplane damage caused by the storms on March 6th. His airplane was flipped upside down as a result of the storm resulting in significant damage. The insurance representative deemed the airplane a total loss. He summarized the process of handling insurance, and that he is in the market for a new Pitts. He has a lead on one in Virginia and potentially one other lead.
Paul Thomson discussed an issue with his Super Decathlon while pulling the airplane out of the hangar. He heard the sound of metal rubbing against metal in the wing. Upon further investigation, he found that a weld in the lower portion of the wing rib had failed, causing the two adjacent pieces of aluminum structure to rub against each other.
Paul Holland discussed various operational considerations of our waivered airspace. Generally there have been few issues in the past. The group discussed other topics, like land and hold short instructions, line up and wait limitations, and clearances issued to airplanes that have just landed and been issued a 180 turn on the runway and taxiback. Taxiing aircraft are expected to hold short of crossing runways unless cleared across the runway after turning around on the landing runway. Paul reminded the group that the tower does not have access to radar, and that the airspace directly south of the airport over Hillsdale lake tends to become congested and creates issues with airplanes shooting ILS approaches to runway 36.
The club has no plans for a 2017 contest at New Century AirCenter.
There is interest in playdays this spring/summer, but no formal schedule was defined.
The club reviewed the regional events on the calendar for 2017.
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for June 26th. More details/updates to come.
The meeting was adjourned.

The Collegiate Challenge set for 25-27 April at Seward Nebraska Airport has been cancelled.
Unfortunately, the late snows and cold in the upper Midwest have not allowed enough practice time for most to compete and airplanes are still hangared.
In its place, MAC80 will will host a Play Day/Judging Practice Day on Saturday 26 April starting at noon if the day is good to fly and will roll out the grill for hotdogs and more.
The Midwest Aerobatic Championships 5 category contest is still on for June 20 through 22.
