Hello everyone. Just a note to remind you that the aerobatic box over IXD will be open this Saturday, the 30th from 09:00 – 17:00.
We will gather at IXD, Signature Flight Support FBO, about 09:00 to place the box markers out and erect the sighting devices at the corners. Then we’ll fly. Also, we’d like to have as many volunteers as possible come out to the airport this Saturday for instructions on how to use sighting devices and boundary judge procedures.

I just got a note from John Morrissey saying that Steve Craig, IAC #15 member, offered his hotel, The Crown Plaza Hotel, at 95th and I-35, to contest participants for a special rate of $95/night. Call the Hotel at 913 217-1000. Do not call Crown Plaza/Holiday Inn central reservations. When you call the hotel, ask for ‘Reservations’. When ‘reservations’ answers, be certain to ask if you are speaking to the hotel itself, or central reservations. If the later, hang up, call back and request to talk only with the specific hotel reservations. When making your reservations, tell them you are with the IAC (use the acronym) and have been quoted the $95 rate. If there are any problems with this, let John know (816 582-6753).

We plan to have the box open Thursday, 4 September and Friday, 5 September for practice prior to the contest.

On another note; September 13 & 14 (Weekend after our contest) is the CAF Air Expo at New Century Airport. The CAF has invited IAC #15 to put up an information tent and aircraft static display on their ramp during the airshow. We will need volunteers to do that. Please indicate your availability to help with that event.

See you all in the air on Saturday

John

Wrapping Up 2011

December 23rd, 2011

The calendar pages have been flipping fast lately, and while it’s still sunny and 45 in late December, it’s hard to believe the Christmas IAC15 LogoSeason is upon us and 2012 is coming to a close.

Naturally, the year end is time for reflection, and 2011 for Chapter 15 has unarguably been a success.

We’ve got a solid and stable membership base of flyers and non-flyers alike; we’ve taken in a number of new members and introduced them to the freedom of aerobatics, and a few members have sadly moved away.

We had a number of good practice days at the New Century Airport, along with a few pancake and omelet breakfasts sprinkled in between.

The 2011 edition of the Harold Neumann Barnstormer was one of the most successful Kansas City has had, and was one of the most widely attended regional contests in 2011.  The success of our contest rests on the shoulders of the contest director and all those involved in organizing, running and volunteering, and I can only say that I hope those individuals are as proud of their success as I am.

Our members have had continued success at the National competition, and have represented our chapter well.  Their accomplishments are a reflection of their dedication to the sport and to the hard work they’ve put in during the year.

Our chapter is healthy and strong, and on behalf of the leadership of IAC Chapter 15, Kansas City, I wish you and your family the same for the Christmas Season, and in 2012.

Merry Christmas,

Grant Wittenborn – President
