2020 Harold Neumann Barnstormer
Aces High Contest
Hello everyone. Just a note to remind you of the Aces High contest at Newton Ks.(KEWK) on September 9th & 10th.
I got the following note from David Marten, contest director:
Are you ware of any IAC 15 pilots heading to Newton, KS for our 2017 ACE’s High Contest? With the pre-registration system down we’re having trouble getting decent estimates on how many pilots are competing.
2017 will be a Power-only contest as the USAFA Glider Team is not attending this year.
I’d appreciate your ‘best-guess’ and ask your members to please RSVP to davemarten77@gmail.com or give me a call at 605-390-8044
We’re also looking for another Judge. If any of your guys are interested we’ll reimburse lodging expenses.
Thanks,
Dave Marten
IAC 119 President / Contest Director
Anyone planning to participate or who could help with the contest, give please give David a call or send him a note.
The next IAC15 meeting will be September 25th.

Contest Updates. Playday this Weekend
Hello everyone; just a note to bring you up to date on our contest plans and to let you all know, we’ll be meeting this Saturday at 09:00 at Signature Flight Support FBO, New Century Air Center to place the aerobatic box markers, corner sighting devices and go over forms and registration material. Once the Markers are in place, the box will be available for practice this Saturday until 17:00 LCL or until cancelled by participants. If you’re available come on out to help and fly.
Nan will position her trailer next to Dave Hayden’s hangar on Thursday, the 27th, at her convenience. Dave has agreed to our use of his hangar for electricity and aircraft storage if necessary and I’m meeting with him today to confirm. The IXD airport manager has asked that the ramp overlay construction (Phase 3) be delayed to accommodate our contest our contest.
Friday, the 28th and registration date, we’ll meet with staff and volunteers at 17:00, again at the Signature FBO. We’ll give our volunteers a run-thru on duties and procedures; specifically the corner (“line” judges) judges on the use of the sighting devices and communication procedures. And of course Saturday & Sunday, the 29th and 30th our contest will begin with the pilot and staff briefings promptly at 08:00 hrs. Any questions about flying or duties and volunteering please send me a note or give me a call.

Meeting Reminder
Hello everyone;
Just a quick note to inform you of a Contest Planning meeting, Monday, the 17th of August at Signature Flight Support, New Century AirCenter; 7Pm. We’ll put the finishing touches on the Barnstormer contest plans. I decided to have the meeting at IXD as I hope to have representatives from both the IXD tower and fire department in attendance. I know it’s a bit short notice, but I hope you’ll be able to attend.

K.C.Barnstormer Contest
Hello everyone. We had a fairly successful day of registering for the Barnstormer contest. A couple of weather delays for practice in the box. I know the weather was a factor for some planning to make the trip to IXD. We will definitely accommodate late arrivals Saturday if you still care to make the trip. A light breakfast of fruit and cereal bars, juice and coffee will be available upon your arrival. Lunch and of course dinner will be served in the hangar as well. The flight operations will be staffed beginning at 7am on to meet your arrival regardless of when you can get here. So, weather permitting, plan to join us at IXD, chapter 15, for a couple of days of fun flying. The weather should be superb both days.
Safe flying

Chapter15 Aerobatic Box Open
Hello everyone. Just a note to advise you that Chapter 15 will open the aerobatic box over New Century Airport (KIXD) this Saturday, August 23rd, from 9am to 4pm as well as the following Saturday, August 30th, in advance of the Harold Neumann Barnstormer Contest on September 5,6 & 7. This will give anyone planning to compete in the contest a chance to experience the IXD box prior to the contest. The box markers will be installed the morning of August 30th and the box opened thereafter. Also, we plan to open the box on Thursday, September 4th and Friday, the 5th just prior to the contest as well.
Another note of information for contestants coming from out of town; the Super8 hotel just off the airport property in Gardner Kansas is conventient to the contest and has a special rate for participants and volunteers. Rooms have been reserved for the contest there beginning Friday September 5th and Saturday the 6th . Call them at 913.856.8163 to reserve your room and mention the KC Aerobatic Club event. Also a little further away at the Great Mall is LaQuinta Inn & Suites; phone: 913.254.0111. No rooms have been reserved there, however they do have availability for the dates of the contest.
I know this is notice is a little late, but there did seem to be some interest in flying this weekend and next.
Best Regards and fly safe
John Wittenborn, IAC #15, President
Update: Midwest Collegiate Challenge Cancelled
The Collegiate Challenge set for 25-27 April at Seward Nebraska Airport has been cancelled.
Unfortunately, the late snows and cold in the upper Midwest have not allowed enough practice time for most to compete and airplanes are still hangared.
In its place, MAC80 will will host a Play Day/Judging Practice Day on Saturday 26 April starting at noon if the day is good to fly and will roll out the grill for hotdogs and more.
The Midwest Aerobatic Championships 5 category contest is still on for June 20 through 22.
Results from Nationals
Another year down and another great National contest in the books.
IAC Chapter 15 was well represented, and several of our members achieved some fantastic results.
John Ostmeyer came in just behind Craig Gifford for 7th and 8th place in Advanced, which landed John on the U.S. National Advanced Aerobatic team for the first time and put Craig back on the team for another year.
Aaron McCartan won the Intermediate category, and Paul Thomson took home the Sportsman trophy… again!
Well done gentlemen!
