Hello everyone;
Just an update on future events. I would like to send out an inquiry to anyone interested in flying in the aerobatic box over IXD Saturday, June 3rd? Send me a reply if you care to fly and I’ll set it up. Remember we need at least 2 participants to fly in the box; one to fly and one to act as a spotter on a hand-held radio.
Also, there will be Chapter 15 meeting June 26th, 7pm at Signature Flight Support at New Century Air Center.
Put the date on you calendar and we’ll look forward to seeing you then and there.

The club held a general meeting on March 27, 2017 at Signature Flight Support at KIXD.
Those in attendance were: Grant Wittenborn, Dave Maine, Nan Funkhouser, Bev Wittenborn, Jon Daughty, Paul Holland, and Paul Thomson.
Dave reported that the club has $10,228.85 in the club account. The 2016 IRS filing is complete, and the Kansas state filings are not due again until 2018.
Dave reported on the hangar and airplane damage caused by the storms on March 6th. His airplane was flipped upside down as a result of the storm resulting in significant damage. The insurance representative deemed the airplane a total loss. He summarized the process of handling insurance, and that he is in the market for a new Pitts. He has a lead on one in Virginia and potentially one other lead.
Paul Thomson discussed an issue with his Super Decathlon while pulling the airplane out of the hangar. He heard the sound of metal rubbing against metal in the wing. Upon further investigation, he found that a weld in the lower portion of the wing rib had failed, causing the two adjacent pieces of aluminum structure to rub against each other.
Paul Holland discussed various operational considerations of our waivered airspace. Generally there have been few issues in the past. The group discussed other topics, like land and hold short instructions, line up and wait limitations, and clearances issued to airplanes that have just landed and been issued a 180 turn on the runway and taxiback. Taxiing aircraft are expected to hold short of crossing runways unless cleared across the runway after turning around on the landing runway. Paul reminded the group that the tower does not have access to radar, and that the airspace directly south of the airport over Hillsdale lake tends to become congested and creates issues with airplanes shooting ILS approaches to runway 36.
The club has no plans for a 2017 contest at New Century AirCenter.
There is interest in playdays this spring/summer, but no formal schedule was defined.
The club reviewed the regional events on the calendar for 2017.
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for June 26th. More details/updates to come.
The meeting was adjourned.
Hello everyone. I’d like to have an IAC Chapter 15 meeting this month on Monday the 27th at Signature FBO to discuss scheduling Summer play days, club gatherings and cookouts as well as the aerobatic box and flight procedures. Paul Holland, the IXD tower chief, indicated he would be available most anytime this month and would be included in our discussion. I’d like to have an idea of how many can attend the meeting before Paul commits to attending. If you would please respond to this query I’d appreciate it very much. You can respond by e-mailing me at chiller_52@yahoo.com.
Best regards:
