Great Plains Collegiate Challenge Information

March 22nd, 2013

A quick update on the Great Plains Collegiate Challenge in McPherson, KS.

It will be a primary-sportsman contest with the flying beginning mid-day on Saturday, April 27th and will roll over to Sunday, April 28th if needed.

While it will be a primary/sportsman contest, the sportsman category will have a subset category called Sportsman II for those who have been competing in sportsman for a while, or who typically compete in Intermediate through Unlimited.

Also, pilots flying in Sportsman II will be encouraged to draw a Sportsman free, which Lynn Bowes has volunteered to check.

There will be time to arrive at the contest on Saturday morning and still compete, or if there is enough interest you can show up Friday and get some box time.

Rod F. has indicated he will drive out on Friday, so if someone needs ground transportation he’s willing to help out in that regard.

As always, volunteers are needed!

Will send updates as new information comes in.

Line Judges (Boundary):  This is an important role as we must have all four boundaries manned. Prefer experienced regional judges or assistant judges, or experienced boundary judges.

Drivers:  Use of a truck to either move judge line items or drop off and pick up the boundary judges.  Driver’s must provide Driver’s license for clean DMV check.

Transport/Mover:  Help move the judge’s line equipment, tables and seating to alternate judging locations.

Score Runner:  Two types of score runners; 1. pick up scores on judge’s line and deliver them to the chief judge table., 2. transport the scores from the chief judge table to the scoring room.

Video assistant:  Help with the video work during competition.

Please feel free to share this information with anyone you know wants to come to WAC2013 to volunteer.  We want to start funneling all volunteer requests to Joy now. She is set up to receive requests and has herself all organized. 🙂
